Obsession of the Week

Obsession of the Week goes to the one and only, Starbucks Caramel Brulee Latte! With the Christmas spirit if full gear, I have lost count of how many of you limited-time-seasonal-cups-of-delight I have had. So congrats on the award, and keep spreading the holiday cheer!

Mazel of the Week

Mazel of the Week definitely goes to Boise State Football! Being at the Maaco Bowl (and Vegas of course) was unbelievable. Between the 3 different night clubs I was at in 2 nights and being apart of the Bronco Nation at the game, I think it's fair to say I will be in recovery for a few days. With a 17 point favor, the Broncos thought that wasn't enough and beat Utah 26-3... come on Utah, not even a touchdown? Boise's offense is soo fun to watch, but like Coach Pete said when giving the MVP award to Kellen, the true MVP was the defense. As most of you know, my younger brother Joe is backup qb to Kellen. As phenomenal as Kellen is, I can't wait to be the proud sister of the face of Boise football.

So even though Boise was unlucky by not getting to play in the forbidden words (Rose Bowl), Mazel Tov to never letting down and having another phenomenal season!

Happiness

Ooh Danville. Being back in my home roots never changes... the smell, the warmth, the feeling. Except for maybe the new furniture my mom always seems to replace our perfectly nice "old" stuff with. One new lesson I learned on the lovely 8 hour drive home was to not be out until 1 the night before and think leaving at 6 am will beat the traffic.. It won't. However, I also learned a solution to that problem: Starbucks, 7 hour Redline extra strength, and my good ole friends Weezy, T Swift, and Kenny. So 8 hours and 9 phone calls later from dad just "checking in," here I am.

Throughout the drive, I couldn't help but smile just at the thought of just coming home. As much as I love "Daygo" I think you can agree with me that there's nothing like coming home for the holidays. As wonderful and perfect as that sounds, if your holidays are anything like mine, you're always amazed at the shocking similarities to that of the Griswold's Family Christmas. The senile grandparents, the crazy uncle, the mother trying to please everyone, the annoying little brother. Nonetheless, you gotta love em. And all this thinking about the holidays brings me to want I want to write ("blog") about today... happiness.
(... after all, it is the most wonderful time of the year)

So on a serious note, looking back at 2010, it has been a whirlwind but so great at the same time. I've grown a lot however, I'm more excited than ever for what the future holds. No matter what that future may be, my number one wish is for happiness. I think this last year was pivotal in learning that happiness is a choice. I believe that good things happen to good people but at the same time, you gotta go out there and make things happen! We have to make conscious decisions every day to personally choose to do things that bring some sort of happiness to your life, but not just for the moment.

This year also taught me that everyone has their own definition of happiness. What brings me happiness probably isn't the same as yours. Pardon my french but fuck the dictionary. We each need to form our own definition of the word happiness and go after it.

My challenge to myself and others is find and follow your happiness. I am not saying you should only care/worry about yourself. However, one thing I am saying here is don't waste your time doing things that make you unhappy. We only have one life to live anyways right? So just remember, happiness is a choice... so choose wisely!

until next time...
follow your happiness :)

Just had to add this pic I took on my first Starbucks break this morning... It made me happy.

My First Blog.

So here it goes... never thought I'd become a blogger but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about blogging... how to get followers... how often to blog... what to blog about... or who even cares in the first place. But I'm giving it a whirl. I love to write and I think starting it up right now is the perfect time for me. Here's why.

I'm sitting in the SDSU library (when I should be studying for my LAST final I have in 2 hours). In a couple hours, I will officially have one semester left of college. This last semester for me will be like any other. For starters, no soccer. I've been playing soccer my whole life and am finally coming to terms with the fact that I most likely will not continue playing at a higher level and will be hanging my cleats up for good. With that said, I'm ready for the real world. What exactly is in the "real world" or what part I will play in it is still up in the air. I started an internship at an online advertising company in downtown San Diego called Underground Elephant (http://www.undergroundelephant.com/) and it's legit! I love the people and the environment. I've been pretty stressed out this last semester, not knowing what lies ahead in the near future for me but UE could be a possibility of a job once I graduate.

On the other hand... after living out in Boston last summer, I have never had such an amazing experience and have wanted to go back ever since. As soon as I got back to California, my mind has still been fixated on moving to Boston once I graduate. Call me crazy for wanting to leave the San Diego sunshine, but I'm ready for a new experience and this is the time to do it. I love cold weather (or so I think) but I've been forewarned that Boston brings a whole new meaning to the word cold. I decided I needed to check this out for myself and so I'm going back over christmas break! I couldn't be more excited and anxious to see if this is something I still want to do.

As you can see, with all these changes taking place in my life pretty soon, I think a blog would be a great way to track my adventures and journey to my unseen future. I don't want this to just be about what I'm doing.. I can use a facebook status or tweet for that. I want to talk about any cool or interesting topics I'm into at the moment. From thigh high boots to mint chocolate chip cookies to the stair-master to the real housewives of atlanta... nothing is off topic. And I want to talk about them all!

So buckle up and enjoy the ride! I know I will :)
